This universally famous, sternally young perpetually divinising, religiously emancipating, spiritually ever-growing, and morally undiminishing pilgrim kasi city has many more august names that published its glorious past and beckons a visit sooner than hearing it It was called Varanasi, for, it is an Island surrounded by the holy waters of Varuna and Asi the tributaries of Mother Ganga; Kasi, for it is the place of supreme brilliance tremendous shrining, lighting up the way to Nirvan; Avimukta - for it affords the highest delight to Lord Mahasmasana; for, here lie the five elements in great cemetory, as dead bodies reach after final destruction. 

The Bharatmata Temple is an unusual shrine for it is dedicated to Mother India and has a large relief map of India carved in marble within. 

There are five specially famous places in Kasi, apart from the Visvanath Shrine. 

The Dhundiraj Ganesh is another important temple on Vishwanath Lane. 

The Durga Temple is one of the important places of worship at Varanasi.
